Three Days in June
James O'Connell This is an oral history of the battle for Mount Longden in the Falklands War. It follows the actions of 3 Para, breaking it down into a section following each company. This is perhaps the biggest downfall of the book as the end result is we see the same events repeatedly in each section as units intermingle. I can see the logic to it however as doing it this way does keep the narrative going. Of particular note is the addition of a few Argentine viewpoints. 3/5 |

SA80 Assault Rifles
Neil Grant This is a good balanced account of the troubled development and service history of the SA80 in British service. It gives both sides of the story including the tricks used to make it look better. From a gamer's point of view it includes a very useful set of plates by Peter Dennis showing the weapons in each of the wars the British Army fought which give a good visual reference on what was carried in each and the changes in uniform and equipment. 5/5 |
